Have you ever seen a little dog race a big dog and win? That is The Power of You Can’t in action right there!
I’ve been re-reading Dean Graziozi’s latest book – The Underdog Advantage. I love the simplicity of his messages and I thought I would share this one with you today.
Some people find it really hard to find their motivation to change or move forward. They are too comfortable.
And then something comes along and knocks them off their feet because someone else puts their beliefs on them….
Imagine the dogs in the photo at the top. Imagine the big dogs told the little dog, ‘You can’t win!’. What do you think that little dog says? PG rated please 😉
I’m thinking of something along the lines of…
Catch me if you can, you slow pokes! 🤣 🤣
How Can WE Build Resilience In Our Mindset?
How can we build resilience in our mindset, so that we have an attitude just like that little dog?
Imagine in your life, you make a decision to try something new. Something, you haven’t done before and you may say to friends or family something like:
‘I’m going to start a new business’ or ‘I’m going to retrain for a new career‘.
And then those well-meaning friends or family says something along the lines of…
‘You don’t want to be doing that, you will fail, you don’t have the skills and the knowledge, and most people fail. Don’t waste your time.’
or
‘You are too old to learn something new, it will be too hard, and you won’t get a job because all the younger college graduates will get the jobs over you. You should be thinking about retiring not starting something new.’
Here’s the thing – some people would accept that and stay in their comfortable corner.
Whilst others, will draw themselves up and think. ‘I’ll show you!’
In the situation with the dogs racing each other. The big dogs don’t see the little dog coming and by the time they realise, the little dog has won the race.
The big dogs have assumed they will win, they may not put in all the effort. They may be capable, but they don’t use all their capacity.
Never underestimate the power of being the underdog.
It doesn’t matter where or how you get your motivation to do all that you can.
What matters is that you find and use the motivation that works for you and use it and use it and use it!
If you want to do something and you are just not finding your motivation… maybe put it out there so someone tells you ‘You can’t do that’ and then go all in to prove them wrong!
Go all in and prove them wrong!
Are you going to summon up the POWER OF YOU CAN’T? The next time someone, even if they mean well, says you can’t do something remember those little dogs and go get that bone!
Have a fulfilling rest of your day.
